The Annual wreathlaying event takes place every summer at the obelisk in the George Eliot Memorial Gardens, alongside the river in Nuneaton. The obelisk has been there since it was moved from Arbury Park in the 1950s and every year we have a guest of honour to lay a chaplet or wreath on behalf of the Fellowship. This year we are delighted to have as our guest of honour Professor Ruth Livesey.

We are hoping that at least 18 wreaths will be laid and especially this year encourage anyone who wishes to bring a single bloom to lay alongside the wreaths. The Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth, Councillor June Tandy, will lay a wreath on behalf of the residents of the borough.

The event includes some readings from or about George Eliot appropriate to the occasion and the whole event lasts about 40 minutes. We then repair to Nuneaton Museum Tea room for refreshments.
