Annual Wreathlaying - Nuneaton
Sunday, 28 June 2020 at 3.00pm
The Annual wreathlaying event takes place every summer at the obelisk in the George Eliot Memorial Gardens, alongside the river in Nuneaton. The obelisk has been there since it was moved from Arbury Park in the 1950s and every year we have a guest of honour to lay a chaplet or wreath on behalf of the Fellowship.
The Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth will lay a wreath on behalf of the residents of the borough.
The event includes some readings from or about George Eliot appropriate to the occasion and the whole event lasts about 40 minutes. We then retreat to Nuneaton Museum Tea room for refreshments.
Below are a few photos taken at last year's event.
